For over a century, the Daughters of Charity have lived and worked in the Waco community, gracing Central Texas with their spiritual guidance, inspirational devotion, and dedication to serve the most vulnerable among us. Neither Providence Healthcare Network nor the Waco community would be who we are today without the legacy of their leadership. In 2016, the Daughters of Charity made the difficult decision to withdraw from the city of Waco, ending their day-to-day ministry at Providence and in our community.
News of the Daughters of Charity’s departure comes with a great loss to Providence and Waco; however, it is urged to consider the Daughters’ decision to retire from Waco the highest compliment, as it demonstrates their faith in Providence and in Waco to continue their legacy of service. The Providence Healthcare ministry was founded by their faith, and it is this faith that The Providence Foundation calls upon now, to honor the legacy they have entrusted to Waco.
