John F. Sheehy, Jr. Education Fund
To honor John Sheehy, Jr. (Co-founder of Providence Foundation) the Providence Foundation Board recently changed the name of the Providence ICU Nurses Scholarship Fund to the John F. Sheehy, Jr. Education Fund.
We are very excited about the scope of this new Educational Fund. Philip Patterson, Ascension Providence President, and Cyndy Dunlap, Ascension Providence Chief Nursing Officer, have stated that providing educational opportunities for Providence’s nurses, clinical staff and those non-clinical associates who wish to provide direct support to nursing is vital to providing quality care to all patients. The rapid technology changes in the medical professions make a dynamic education fund a top priority.
The new John F. Sheehy, Jr. Education Fund will be the umbrella for all the Foundation’s educational programs. A new 3-year education program has been prepared by Cyndy Dunlap that will enable Ascension Providence to enhance the purpose and scope of the education fund to support the new Nurses Excellence Education Program. Under this plan, Providence Foundation will provide annual educational funding and expand the program to include all eligible nurses, clinical staff and those non-clinical associates who wish to provide direct support to nursing.
Thank you for your consideration, and we hope you can join us in supporting this program and in honoring Mr. Sheehy. To make a donation to support the John F. Sheehy, Jr. Education Fund, click here.
