My Passion for Healthcare

I felt "called" to be a physician much as pastors describe being "called" to their vocation; I could never imagine doing anything else. I've always enjoyed being a teacher and I've taught every graduate of Waco's Family Practice program for the past 40 years. In addition to my practice in Pulmonary and Critical Care, I am board-certified in Life Insurance Medicine and I have enjoyed teaching "Pulmonary" to innumerable Life Insurance medical directors both nationally and internationally. My last challenge of my career will be getting our hospital's Palliative Care program up and running.

My Clinical Focus

Although I've always focused on Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine, I served as Medical Director of Waco's Hillcrest Hospital for almost 20 years and I am now Medical Director of Providence Health Center's nascent Palliative Care program. I have given presentations on End of Life to several national audiences and I have served on Providence's Ethics Committee for the past 10 years. I have also actively taught in my role of being board-certified in Life Insurance Medicine, and I have published 8 articles in the Journal of Insurance Medicine.
