The Sixth Annual Providence Foundation High Teas were a huge success as quite a number of people gathered in the Community Room at Providence Park on Thursday June 17. High tea sessions were held in the morning and in the afternoon. A valuable presentation, related to "philanthropic solutions (what is best for you and your family)" was provided by Carol Yonak, Senior Vice President and Philanthropic Consultant with Wells Fargo Bank. Two other Wells Fargo executives, attorney Johnny Giotes, Senior Wealth Management Specialist and certified financial planner Chuck Lewis, Financial Consultant, were also in present Carol, Johnny and Chuck stayed on hand following the presentation to answer individual questions from the Foundation's High Tea guests.
The Foundation's guests were treated to champagne, coffee and of course English teas, as well as delicious cucumber, chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches, chocolate dipped strawberries, petit fours, scones and Milano cookies.
What made the teas even more fun, were the festive hats that many of the guests wore. Tiffany & Company teal wrapped wine glasses and other fine gifts were awarded to the women voted to be wearing the most festive hats. Dave Guyer, Executive Director of the Providence Foundation said, "The High Teas are a win-win proposition...Everyone comes together to have some fun but they also learn important information that can benefit themselves, their families and even their favorite charities, such as Providence!"
If you would like to learn about ways that you can benefit Providence with a philanthropic gift, please contact Dave or Heather Beck at the Foundation office by calling 751-4762.

After over a year of planning the Providence Foundation conducted its Providence 105th Anniversary Gala on Saturday April 10. Cindy Brown and her Development Committee did an awesome job in planning and conducting this wonderful event! By all accounts, everyone had a great time. For only the second time in Heart ‘O Texas Coliseum history, the coliseum was sold out. We had 1,080 gala guests and 4070 concert goers. The evening's entertainment featured the legendary rock band Chicago. They exceeded everyone's expectations. Those 60-somethings can still rock and roll after all these years. The Providence Foundation netted (after expenses), over $156,000 from the event. That is a record amount of money raised from a special event by the Foundation. It's also one of the largest amounts of money raised by any special event, by any non-profit in the Waco area. None of this success would have been possible without the generous support of Providence Foundation sponsors and volunteers. Of course proceeds from the gala will benefit the Providence Healthcare Network in advancing its mission of "Serving the Sick-Poor."
