Support Groups

Providence Healthcare Network offers numerous support groups, covering a wide range of topics for every member of the family. All support groups are free-of-charge, unless noted otherwise. For more information about any of the support groups listed below, call the number shown at the end of each description.

"Air Ways" Pulmonary Support Group
Designed for anyone with lung disease or those who may have a family member with lung problems. The group is hosted by Providence Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department and will meet the last Tuesday of each month. For more information, call (254) 751-4586.

Diabetic Support Group
Designed for anyone interested in learning more about diabetes and its treatment. Meets the last Thursday of every month beginning January 26, 2012. The meeting is held in Classroom 6 from 6:00 - 7:00pm in the F.M. and Gloria Young Tower. For more information, please call (254) 751-4257.

Healing Grief
Hosted by Providence Hospice, Healing Grief is a six-week series dedicated to dealing with loss. For more information, call Providence Hospice at (254) 399 - 9099.

Internal Cardioverter Defibrillator
Designed for ICD patients and their families. Meets once every three months at Providence Health Center. For more information, call the Providence Pacemaker Clinic at (254) 751-4790.

Living Livers
Hosted by the Providence Gastroenterology department, Living Livers provides education and guidance for patients, families and anyone interested in liver disease. Meets on the second Tuesday of each month at Providence Health Center.

Mended Hearts
Open to patients with heart disease and their families to learn more about cardiac treatment. Meetings include a program with a guest speaker, along with heart-healthy refreshments. Meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at Providence Health Center in Classroom 6.

Osteoporosis Support Group
Designed for anyone interested in learning more about osteoporosis. Meets from noon to 1 p.m. every fourth Wednesday of the month at Providence Health Center. For more information, call (254) 751-4565.

DePaul Center Support Groups
For more information on any support group listed below, call (254) 776-5970. Providence DePaul Center is located at 301 Londonderry Drive in Waco, approximately one block from Providence Health Center.

Second Chance Alanon
A recovery support group for families, friends and significant others of chemically dependent people. Held on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. in the DePaul Education Room. Contacts: Billie at 840-3753, Diane at 881-1716 or Lynn at 772-4138.

Alanon/Alateen Newcomers
A recovery support group for families, friends and significant others of chemically dependent people. Regular members introduce newcomers to the program. Held on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. in the DePaul Center. Contacts: Kay at (254) 666 - 2792.

NAMI of Waco
Family members and caregivers of those with mental illness. General meetings are at 6:45 PM on the last Tuesday of the month followed by a support group meeting at the Providence Education complex. Bipolar Support Group
Support group for those individuals dealing with Bipolar Illness and their family members. Meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday in the DePaul cafeteria.

Depression Support Group
A support group for individuals as well as family members who suffer from depression. Meets at 6 p.m. every Wednesday in the DePaul cafeteria. Contact Sylvia Silva-Castillo, Counselor at (254) 776-5970.
