Safety Aspects

Unlike CT and X-Ray, MRI does not use ionizing radiation. However, you will not be able to have an MRI if you have any of the following contraindications:

  • Cardiac Pacemaker/Defibrillator
  • Cranial Aneurysm Clips
  • Metal in the Eyes
  • Cochlear Implants
  • Weight is excess of 550lbs.

Additionally, you will need to notify the technologist of any of the following:

  • Tattoos, Medication Patches or Jewelry
  • Spine Surgery or any Recent Surgery
  • Claustrophobia, Pregnancy or Nursing
  • Renal Disease, Dialysis or Diabetes
