The Big Picture
At the DePaul Center, we believe that addiction to substances or processes is but a symptom of greater problems. Substance abuse is a maladaptive method of coping with life problems stemming from sources such as family, employment, school, psychiatric, medical, spiritual, or legal functioning. Based on this belief, we consider and offer assistance with many life areas in which individuals may be struggling.
Other Addictions
Individuals with addictions often struggle with a large repertoire of substances and/or processes (nicotine, alcohol, gambling, sex, food, etc.) While in our care, we put forth efforts to consider all compulsive behaviors used by the individual and educate as to the dangers of addiction transference (switching for one substance/process to another).
Dual Diagnosis
The majority or the individuals suffering from substance addiction also have other psychiatric illnesses such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder. To provide and individual with the best opportunity for recovery, we believe that both disorders must be treated simultaneously. At the DePaul Center, all staff are trained and competent in the treatment of dual disorders.
After Care
The treatment experience is just the beginning. Recovery from addiction, for most, is a life-long process. In recognizing this, the DePaul Center has made available numerous onsite aftercare options. Aftercare programs include:
- Depression Support Groups
- Anxiety Support Groups
- Bipolar Support Groups
- Alcoholics Anonymous
- Al-Anon
- Facilitated Aftercare Groups
- Family Therapy Groups
