The Senior Inpatient Program serves individuals with a
variety of needs. Often seniors present with a combination
of physical, emotional, and/or psychiatric problems such as
infection, COPD, heart conditions, Parkinson's Disease,
depression, confusion, anxiety disorders, agitation, and/or
bereavement. Thorough biopsychosocial evaluations are
administered so as to obtain a holistic picture of the
struggles being experienced by the individual.
Those receiving inpatient
care reside in the Senior Unit with age appropriate peers.
Professionals from psychiatry, medicine, recreation,
nursing, and therapy design each individual's care plan.
Treatment activities include pharmacotherapy, individual,
family, group, and recreational therapies. Additional
efforts are made to establish a comprehensive aftercare plan
before completing inpatient care to prevent
re-hospitalization or decompensation. The senior as well as
family members are encouraged to participate in developing
this plan. |
