Providence Celebrates Completion of Construction/Renovation Project

Providence employees, physicians, building contractors, volunteers, donors, city and county officials and many friends of Providence gathered in the newly renovated InProv Café on the evening of March 27 to celebrate the completion of a $48.5 million construction/renovation project that began in the fall of 2005.

Almost a year earlier to the day, many of these same people had come for a celebration in the new F.M. and Gloria Young Tower to celebrate the completion and opening of that 5-story facility which houses cardio-pulmonary rehab, cardiac, ICU and other services.  The March 27 celebration was held in order to recognize the completion of the entire project, which included in addition to the tower, expansions of the emergency department from 26 to 51 exam rooms, the radiology department, pharmacy, cafeteria and respiratory services.  The surgery department was expanded from nine to 15 rooms with an enlarged 30-bed pre-operative/post operative holding area.

Also, a new 475-space parking garage was completed, and the hospital’s main lobby, nursing units and admissions department underwent renovations in an effort to create a seamless transition between the original construction and the new tower.
