We now have beautiful one layer hats designed by "Just in Time". These head covers are designed by a former patient who did not want to wear a wig during chemotherapy and radiation. They are very comfortable and are machine washable.

What is Lymphedema?
Lymphedema is an accumulation of fluid that may collect in the arms and legs when lymph nodes are blocked, damaged, or removed. As a result, the affected limb may become swollen and uncomfortable.

What precautions should I follow if I have lymphedema?
  • Keep your arm or leg elevated above the level of the heart, when possible.
  • Wear gloves when doing housework, gardening, or other chores to provide protection. from bacteria, should a lesion occur.
  • No blood drawing, injections or blood pressure checks in the affected extremity.
  • Avoid heavy lifting and rigorous repetitive movements.
  • Avoid tight jewelry around fingers or arms.
  • Maintain an ideal weight and eat a low salt diet.
  • Use compression garments.
