As the area's leading cardiac care provider for 25 years, Providence Healthcare Network offers a local community-wide campaign (called "Early Heart Attack Care", or "EHAC" for short) to educate Central Texans on the early symptoms of a heart attack in an effort to promote early preventive measures. By increasing public awareness in the recognition of early heart attack symptoms, earlier individual action should result. EHAC presentations teach that a heart attack has a beginning (called the prodromal stage) with symptoms present in at least 60 percent of all cases. Persons experiencing a potential heart attack are motivated to act promptly at this stage to prevent sudden death or severe heart muscle damage.
